Keycap for macOS, by Vista Mobile Limited.
Last updated 29 August 2026.
Keycap does not collect any data about you. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. Your keystrokes are never recorded, stored or transmitted — not to us, not to anyone.
Keycap plays a sound when you press a key, so it has to know that a key was pressed. macOS puts that behind the Input Monitoring permission, which you grant explicitly and can revoke at any time.
Here is exactly what happens, and what cannot happen:
If you revoke Input Monitoring, Keycap keeps working — it simply stops making sound and tells you why.
Two things, both local to your computer and both removed when you delete the app:
None of this is transmitted anywhere, and none of it identifies you.
Keycap makes network requests for exactly one purpose: fetching the list of available sound packs, and downloading the packs you choose. Those files are public and hosted on GitHub. No account, token or identifier is sent, and no information about you or your typing is included in the request.
To be complete: like any web request, this reveals your IP address to the host serving the files (GitHub), which may record it in its own standard server logs under its own privacy policy. We neither receive nor have access to those logs. If you never open the Library tab and never download a pack, Keycap makes no network requests at all, and the app is fully usable that way.
Our App Store privacy declaration is Data Not Collected, and it is accurate.
Keycap is a paid download with no in-app purchases. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, and Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
Keycap is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children. It is rated suitable for all ages.
Data protection law gives you rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct, export or erase. If you would like this confirmed in writing, email us and we will reply.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version of Keycap ever collected data — it does not today, and we have no plans for it — we would say so here and ask for your consent in the app before doing anything.
